East Carolina was a no-show on Thursday night, dropping our Look of the Day record to 2-2 on the week. We still have a chance to close out a winning week, so let's do just that with our favorite NBA prop bet for Friday night's loaded slate.
Paul Reed, Joel Embiid's part-time replacement, doesn't always stuff the stat sheet, but he's capable of putting up big performances in easy matchups. That's exactly what he has Friday night when the Charlotte Hornets come to town.
The Hornets have been abysmal against opposing centers all season. Charlotte ranks 28th in points allowed per game to centers and 29th in rebounds allowed per game to the same position. Starting center Mark Williams has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Philadelphia 76ers, and backup Nick Richards can be had on the glass.
Reed's best attributes are his relentless hustle and his tenacity on the offensive glass, and that should help him thrive in this matchup. Over the last five games, the Hornets are surrendering 13.8 offensive rebounds per game. That's the most in the NBA over that span.
In Reed's last game against Charlotte, he racked up eight rebounds in just 11 minutes off the bench. He should be able to clear that number with a full workload this time.
